Only one more week to go and the Toppers will be back on stage. André, Jeroen and Gerard will once again turn the Amsterdam Arena upside down in 2017. This year the party will be themed around the Wild West with the theme “Wild West, Thuis Best”. Of course, a Toppers night is not complete without a good dress code. Glitter Country Rood gives plenty of room for people who prefer to dress more conservatively, but also for people who want to go all out.
The Wild West is for many people the name of a period in the history of the United States. In the period between 1865 and 1890 there was an area in the United States that was called the Wild West. It is nice to know a little more about this period before you go to the party of the Toppers 2017!
It often seems like the Wild West was a long period in American history, when in reality it only lasted 25 mere years. The time of unrest in a land of Indians, cowboys, prospectors, bandits and explorers lasted only a short period. Yet this time provided more than enough inspiration for countless books and films, so that everyone now knows what the Wild West was.
Many special figures from the Wild West are known by name, but for the rest we have no idea who they are. So let us introduce you to three special people from the Wild West. And maybe you will get inspiration from this for your Toppers outfit !
Buffalo Bill, or William Cody, earned his special nickname by supplying buffalo meat to the workers of a large railroad. After working as a skin hunter, bull catcher, prospector, horseman and soldier, he started his own “Buffalo Bill Wild West Show”. This show, which resembled a circus attraction, traveled all over the world. Many people learned the sensational stories of cowboys, Indians and shooting women.
Of course, you can't discuss the Wild West without discussing a gunfighter. And so we all know the name Billy the Kid. This notorious criminal is held responsible for 21 murders. From the age of 15, he roamed the Wild West, stealing and murdering. He escaped from prison three times, only to be caught at the age of 21, which ended his impressive life.
Despite the deeds he probably committed, he was very popular among the Spanish people in the places where he lived. The fact that he was handsome, could dance well and could speak Spanish must have helped!
One of the greatest and most famous villains of the West has to be Jesse James. Jesse James started out as a free gunner in the Civil War. When he returned home, he discovered that his mother had been forced to sell her land. He then went after the men responsible. After years of murder and bank robberies, he was finally shot by members of his own gang.
Be inspired by these stories so that you can dress up as a cowboy, bandit or bank robber to the Toppers. Please note that toy guns and other fake weapons are not allowed at the Toppers 2017! In a large Arena, it is not only about your safety but also about the safety of the other visitors. To prevent chaos, fake weapons are therefore not allowed at the party.
Dressing up when you go to the Toppers is part of the party. Choose a glitter cowboy hat or a glitter shirt if you don't necessarily like dressing up. Do you want to go all out? Toppers clothing can also be a complete cowboy suit or a saloon girl outfit .
