'We may be how we feel'. We celebrate pride together under the rainbow flag!
'May be how we feel'. Pride is celebrated annually, with the pride walk, theatre, music, exhibitions and of course as a highlight the parade of boats through the Amsterdam canals. Celebrating freedom, individuality and love.
Pride is the name for a manifestation of lesbians, homosexuals, bisexuals, non-binary persons and transgenders, the lgbtqia+. It is held every year in many countries and has both a festive and a demonstrative character.
The symbol of pride is of course the rainbow flag . It was designed in 1978 by American artist Gilbert Baker as a symbol for the Pride Parade of that year, and has served as a symbol of the LGBTQIA+ ever since.
During pride you see all sorts of things in rainbow colours passing by. Such as flags, ties, socks, jackets, skirts, bows, caps, braces. But also think of wigs, make-up, wings, tiaras and bags.
