We are in the middle of the festival season. Major festivals such as Solar Weekend, Dekmantel, Electronic Family, Sziget, Dancevally, Appelsap, Het Land van Ooit, Pukkelpop, Lowlands, Decibel Outdoor, Dutch Valley, Mysteryland and many more are still to come!

Are you going to a festival for the first time or do you find yourself forgetting essential items every year? Then read this article by e-Carnavalskleding !

Your sleeping place

Most people don't go to the festival grounds by car but by public transport. This limits the weight you can take with you. The invention for festivals are the throw tents. Not only are they lightweight, you can also be ready in a few seconds, just put some pegs in the corners and your tent is up! We know that there are guy ropes, but we actually never use them. Nowadays you also have affordable blackout throw tents that don't wake you up at 5 in the morning because of the sunrise.

Don't go for mega airbeds, not only for the size but also because you need a pump for this. Go for a self-inflatable mattress. These are lightweight, small in size and take little effort to blow up! The only thing you really shouldn't save on in terms of weight or costs for your sleeping place is a good sleeping bag. Nothing is as annoying as not being able to sleep well because you are freezing cold every night.

You don't only need earplugs at the festival, you definitely need them in your tent too. We never understand where people get their energy from, but there is always a group that parties at the campsite from early in the morning until late at night. And that every day of the festival. Do you want to sleep well? Then take a good pair of earplugs with you.

You can also bring a sleep mask and a light with a hook. You can attach these to your tent, so that you can still find your things at night if your phone has long since died.

For on the festival grounds

Always check in advance what you are allowed to bring onto the festival grounds. Smaller festivals are often very easy and some do not even have control. And at other festivals you are not even allowed to bring a spray deodorant inside. Here is our list of what you should bring to the festival grounds.

At most festivals the weather is not always nice but the sun still comes out. This is why you not only need sunglasses and (a mini bottle of) sunscreen, but also take a nice party poncho with you just to be sure. If you don't need the poncho for the rain, you can always use it to sit on. In addition to a party poncho for the really hot days, also take a cap, hat or bandana with you. You get sunstroke faster than you think.

In addition, festivals are not the cleanest places. Therefore, bring a small bottle of hand alcohol gel and wet wipes. After eating, you can clean your hands or it is your salvation if the toilets are not so clean anymore. Also bring a deodorant roller if you want to smell nice all day.

Especially with a drink, things can sometimes go wrong. In any case, put 2 painkillers and a few plasters in your bag. Better that you don't need them than that you have to trudge across the entire terrain for the first aid post for a plaster. Suffering from hay fever? Take an extra tablet in your bag. And don't forget your earplugs. If you always stand a bit at the back, you often won't need them, but if you want to rave at the front, ear protection is desirable!

Reception at a festival site is never good. That's why it's nice to have a phone that lasts all day, in case you lose your friends. So take one or more power banks with you. There are often charging stations at the festival, but then you'll be standing with your phone connected to a charging cable for an hour. That's not exactly how you want to spend your festival. Solve this easily by taking a power bank with you!

Hygiene

We have already talked about hygiene on the festival grounds, but hygiene outside of the festival is also an issue. Usually, when you wake up early, the lines for the showers are not that long, but sometimes you oversleep and don't have time to shower. We always take the following things with us to ensure that we can still start the day fresh and fruity.

First of all, the microfiber towel is highly recommended. This small towel dries very quickly, so you no longer have a damp towel in your tent. For the rest, take mini shampoo, shower gel and conditioner with you. This way you don't have to carry extra weight.

For festivals where the weather is going to be really nice, you can expect a lot of dust to fly around. It is nice to at least clean your face at the end of the day. Take a pack of damp washcloths with you, which can be bought at any supermarket or drugstore.

Hopefully our tips are useful. We wish you a great festival!
